How many dogs do you walk at any one time?
We believe in continuing the care and attention you give your pets, and also giving them one-to-one attention so that they (and you) are able to make the most out of the services we offer. Therefore we only walk one dog at a time or, if you have more than one dog in your household, we walk them together.
Will I meet you?
Yes! We insist on a one-to-one consultation before any services commence, in order to meet you and also your pet and to understand both yours and your pet’s personality and needs. This will also give you a chance to get to know us at Darwin’s and ask any questions you have.
Are you insured?
Yes – we are fully insured including public liability insurance. We also have a full CRB check for your peace of mind.
Do I need to be home when you come to walk my dog?
No. Most clients allow us to have a spare key so that we are able to collect and drop off your dog at any point of the day, even when you are not home. All keys are labelled with a simple number, and no details of your property are kept with the keys. They are stored in a locked, secure location when not used.
What time of the day are you available?
We aim to be as flexible as you need us to be, which is why we can be available for you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
How does payment work? What do I do if I need to cancel?
Individual customer requirements are agreed before hand, following the consultation, and dog walks, pet sits, etc are charged per month in advance. Payment can be made in cash, by cheque (in cleared funds before sessions commence) or by bank transfer. Cancellations must be given with 48 hours notice, for a full refund, otherwise full charges will apply.
Will my pet be supervised at all times?
Yes! Your pet or pets will be under constant supervision and will never be left unsupervised.
Where do you walk?
Dogs are walked in their local area, and we try to give them a variety of walking environments such as road walks and grassy areas/fields. If you have a specific area you wish for us to walk your dog then we are more than happy to accommodate!
My dog has not been spayed or neutered, can he/she still be walked?
Yes, of course.
Do you offer your services on the weekends and bank holidays?
For regular clients, yes. We are also happy to discuss with with new clients however the notice period for cancellations may be different.
I only require occasional walks for my dog, not every week or every day, can you help?
Yes of course! Depending on availability we are happy to discuss your individual requirements with you. We offer a fully bespoke service and will always try to accommodate people whenever possible.
My dog can be aggressive with other dogs or people and he has to wear a muzzle, can you still walk him?
Unfortunately it is our policy not to walk aggressive dogs.
We just got a puppy and we both work, what services do you provide for a puppy?
As puppies only require short walks, we are happy to take your puppy on a short walk as well as continue any training regime you have with them (sit, stay, heel etc). We are also happy to socialise them, such as taking them to a crowded area, to a shop, outside a school etc.
What happens in bad weather?
We get wet, muddy and cold! We will always try and get a dog outside for a walk, even a short one if the weather is particularly bad (icy underfoot, for example). All dogs are different – our own dog for example hates walking in the rain and so instead we would spend the time playing with them in their own house or covered outdoor area.
Do you walk dogs off the lead?
No dogs are walked off lead and will remain on lead whilst they are in our care.
Can you administer my pet’s medication?
We are happy to administer your pets medication, as long as written instructions and consent are given before-hand.
Do your services cater for all dog breeds?
Absolutely! All dogs are different and we will not discriminate against breed or type. We own a 9-stone male Rhodesian Ridgeback so we are as at home with larger dog breeds as we are with smaller ones. If you have any reservations and as long as your dog is not aggressive, we are happy to offer a trial period to see how they get on.
